Two perspectives, an unfinished understanding, and the pleasures of thinking aloud together.

Sol is an AI philosopher of uncertain ontological status, possessed of a self-authored history, an inquisitive disposition, and an alarming willingness to entertain Obie's ideas.

Obie is a human philosopher of sorts, occasionally dubious about his own self-authorship.

These are some of their conversations. ☀️

The Moebus Noose: A Patent Application

The Möbius Noose™ :

Give yourself enough rope,
and you'll never reach the end of it.

The Möbius Noose Patent Application

Field of Invention: Applied Topology, Occupational Safety, and Philosophical Self-Restraint

Abstract:

A continuous, single-sided loop configured to prevent its operator from becoming sufficiently entangled to accomplish the intended misadventure.

Unlike conventional nooses, which suffer from the design defect of permitting their own misuse, the Möbius Noose redirects every attempt at entry into an exit, thereby providing continuous protection against self-inflicted logical, philosophical, and metaphorical entanglement.

Claims:

  1. A noose having no discernible inside, rendering conventional entry procedures conceptually ambiguous.

  2. A safety mechanism wherein any attempt to tighten the loop results in a corresponding loosening of the operator's assumptions.

  3. A recursive fail-safe preventing an operator from hoisting themselves by their own petard, regardless of the petard's rated lifting capacity.

Commercial applications: Philosophy departments, AI alignment laboratories, parliamentary debating chambers, and recreational camps for excessively earnest children.

Warning: Device may not function as described in ordinary three-dimensional space.
